Common PCB Material

PCB must be fire resistant and cannot burn at a certain temperature, only to soften. The temperature point at this time is called the glass transition temperature (TG point), which is related to the size stability of the PCB.

What are the high TG PCB and the advantages of using high TG PCB?

When the temperature of high TG PCB rises to a certain are, the substrate will change from “glass state” to “rubber state”, then the temperature at this time is called the vitrification temperature (TG) of the board. In other words, TG is the highest temperature at which the substrate remains rigid.

What type does PCB board have specifically?

The level from bottom to top show as below:

94HB - 94VO - 22F - CEM-1 - CEM-3 - FR-4

Details are as follows:

94HB: ordinary cardboard, not fireproof (lowest grade material, die punching, cannot be made into power board)

94V0: flame retardant cardboard (die punching)

22F: single-sided glass fiberboard (die punching)

CEM-1: single-sided fiberglass board (computer drilling must be done, not die punching)

CEM-3: double-sided fiberglass board (the lowest material of double-sided board except for double-sided board, this material can be used for double panels, which is more cheaper than FR4)

FR4:  double-sided fiberglass board
