Talking about the advantages and disadvantages of FPC circuit boards

We usually talk about PCB, so what is FPC? The Chinese name of FPC is also called flexible circuit board, also called soft board. It is made of soft and insulating materials. The printed circuit board we need belongs to pcb. One kind, and it has some advantages that many rigid circuit boards do not have.

Some common advantages such as small size, relatively small weight, and very thin. It can be bent and folded freely, and can be adjusted and arranged according to the layout of its own product space to maximize the coordination of components and linkers in the product. In this way, some products can tend to be miniaturized, thinner, high-density, and widely applicable. It is widely used in some aerospace products, military industry, communication products, microcomputers, digital products, etc. In addition, the FPC soft board has good heat dissipation performance and good welding performance. Therefore, some products are designed with a combination of soft and hard in order to compensate for the defects of the soft board in the carrying capacity.

FPC flexible circuit boards also have some shortcomings, and the cost is high. Because of special applications, the costs required for design, wiring, and photographic backplanes are relatively high. In addition, the finished FPC is not easy to repair and change, and the size is limited. The current FPC is mainly made by batch process, so the size is also affected by the equipment, and it is not possible to make very long or very wide boards.

In such a large FPC market in China, many companies in the United States, Japan, and Hong Kong and Taiwan have established factories in China. According to the law of survival of the fittest, FPC must continue to innovate to slowly achieve new development. Especially in thickness, folding endurance, price, and process capability all need to be improved, so that FPC can be more widely used in the market.
